The Strokes lead vocalist and frontman Julian Casablancas says he does not actually enjoy playing tracks from his famous bands discography. While being interviewed by Rolling Stone Magazine, Casablancas revealed that while it is “still fun to see people react” to the old material live, he doesn’t “feel anything from it”.
He continued to say in the interview that “A little while ago, I saw someone perform a cover of some Top 40 song in an empty bar, like he probably just learned it two days ago. He was probably enjoying playing that more than I enjoy playing “Last Nite”. I just smiled about it.” This revelation may be a concern for fans of the band, but never fear as he also confirmed that the band would be hitting the studio early next year for their sixth studio album.
Casablancas is currently touring with his new band The Voidz in support of their recently released debut album, Tyranny. The new material is very different from his older bands classic hits but that does not stop it from being a good listen. Catch him on tour and expect more details for The Strokes new record soon!
