Live 105 has just announced the full line-up to its annual winter extravaganza, Live 105 Not So Silent Night. The two day event takes place at the Oracle Arena in Oakland and features two alternative rock heavy line ups. Headliners include anthemic hit makers Imagine Dragons and angsty rap rock group Linkin Park. The event will take place on December 12th and 13th.
The line-up is rounded out by several notable and internationally recognized bands that will draw in the crowds. The first day is headlined by Los Angeles based alternative rock band Linkin Park who were extremely popular in the early 2000’s with critically acclaimed albums like Meteora and Hybrid Theory. The theme of the night seems to be alternative and punk with a dash of indie rock. Fall Out Boy and Rise Against are two veterans of the punk rock industry and stick to their guns by playing catchy fast paced tracks that create mosh pits with ease.
Young The Giant have become the quintessential indie rock band that delivers solid performance after solid performance. One of the biggest surprise acts to make it big in the last year is Future Islands, who have delivered a fantastic 2014 album titled, Singles. Walk The Moon is known for putting on energetic live shows and the band is a great introduction to the more well known acts on the roster. Fans will want to focus mainly on the excellent undercard on day one. There is nothing wrong with Linkin Park or Fall Out Boy as the two bands have dozens of popular hits, but their angrier sounding tracks can grow old unless you are a die hard fan.
Day two is meant for the indie rock aficionados (minus Imagine Dragons). Headlined by one of the most popular bands in the country the aforementioned Imagine Dragons, NSSN organizers went all out. Imagine Dragons have seen a meteoric rise since the release of their debut album and have conquered stages all around the world. Unconventional UK outfit Alt-J are making their return to NSSN, but this time they are second to the headliner. Having just released a brand new album called This Is All Yours the band is set to perform for the first time in Oakland since last years event. Perhaps the biggest surprise of day two is the inclusion of post-punk revivalists Interpol. Performing with top tier technical precision the band will most certainly be one of the biggest highlights of the night.
Before the clean trimmed New York outfit hits the stage get ready for one of the most adrenaline fueled acts of day two. Cage The Elephant is well known for their rock and roll infused live shows that turns the crowd into a head banging, sweaty mess. Texas based indie rock stalwarts, Spoon will warm up the audience with a career spanning set of entertaining indie rock. Opening up the show will be Australia’s newest folk rock hit maker, Vance Joy. Having gained considerable popularity around the world, Joy is set to “wow” the audience at NSSN. Get your tickets fast as this event will most likely sell out. NSSN has hit upon a successful formula for the bay area’s largest winter event and it is sure to be a fantastic show.
