British electronica duo, The Chemical Brothers will undergo some changes in the future with todays announcement. Co-founding member of the duo, Ed Simons has decided to quit touring to focus on his academics. While he will still help produce and record Chemical Brother records he will not go on the road to help promote it.
In a statement Simon had this to say in his decision to quit touring, “I have committed to academic pursuits over the last few years so I won’t be able to be part of the live show. It’s been a really difficult decision but it doesn’t work for me to be away from home for the periods of time touring requires. The academic work I’m continuing with is too meaningful for me to break from right now. I’m really excited to see how the new show looks and on the plus side, one day I will get to see a Chemical Brothers show from the audience’s perspective.”
He continued with, “We’re still very much together and making this record together and DJing together. The touring just doesn’t fit alongside my academic work.” There is no news yet if someone will take Simon’s place on tour or if it will become a solo act. Fans should feel relieved that this is not the end but merely a new chapter for the seasoned electronic duo.
