Earlier this year Radiohead said that they would be entering the studio to work on their upcoming ninth album. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, guitarist Johnny Greenwood confirmed that the band had just begun the recording process to the follow up to their 2011 album, The King Of Limbs.
During the interview Greenwood had this to say on the bands progress.“We don’t know what sonic direction the album may take. I always feel as when we start up like we still don’t know really how to do it, and we don’t know quite what to do. ‘Looking down avenues’ is a very kind way of putting the kind of fumbling that we do, mainly because every time we try and do it like the last time because that worked, it never seems to work. So we talk about different approaches and we’re currently trying a bunch out.”
While the album still does not have title or release date this news should be comforting to fans. Expect more updates and potential tour dates in the future.
