Grateful Dead reunite for 50th anniversary concerts, Trey Anastasio of Phish will be the frontman

unnamed-2

Huge news for jam band fans everywhere! The legendary Grateful Dead are returning as the surviving members are reuniting to play a trio of shows at Chicago’s Soldier Field in July to celebrate the bands 50th anniversary.

Taking place July 3rd – 5th, the shows will come nearly 20 years to the date of the band’s final performance with late singer Jerry Garcia that also occurred at Soldier Field. In place of Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann have nabbed Phish frontman Trey Anastasio to fill in. According to Weir, “These will be the last shows with the four of us together.”

  1. The pros have been getting their fill for the last 16 years and know where the magic has been
coming from. This is Amateur hour. Everyone knows that friend that has not partied since ’95 and suddenly got in touch and has to be at these shows. It’s hilarious the people coming outta the woodwork. But this is a huge cash grab and everyone that’s not buying the hype knows it. Trey does everything half assed these days, can’t even play dead or phish songs correctly, and the rest of the dead members besides Phil are not too good at making music these days either.
