Deftones to release a brand new album in September

Deftones’ frontman Chino Moreno has revealed that their new album is tentatively set to arrive on September 25th. The new material will be previewed on the bands upcoming co-headlining tour with Incubus.

Leeds Festival 2011Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Moreno said, “The record, as far as music, has been all recorded, and I am currently working on the vocals. So I’ve been recording from my home studio here in Oregon. Slowly but surely, we’re getting it done, man. It’s coming out really good.”

Moreno said the new material is “more of a heady record,” and added, “I feel like we’ve gone into the songs and really dissected them. If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven’t done in the past.”

The as-yet-untitled effort could possibly feature as many as 16 songs and is being produced by Matt Hyde who has worked for bands like Slayer and Children Of Bodom.
