Washington DC is getting a huge festival push this year with the arrival of the inaugural Landmark Music Festival. The two day event runs from September 26th to the 27th at the historic National Mall.
Organizers have put together a fairly diverse lineup that leans heavily towards rock with a few hip hop acts sprinkled into the mix. Headlining the festival is Canadian rapper Drake and one of New Yorks most beloved alternative rock bands, The Strokes. Other notable artists include Alt-J, Chromeo, Miguel, TV On The Radio, Ben Howard, CHVRCHES, Band Of Horses, The War On Drugs, George Ezra, Nate Reuss, Lord Huron, Wale, The Kills, Twin Shadow, Dr. John And The Night Rippers, The Lone Bellow and many more.
The festival is designed to raise awareness, participation, and fundraising to restore the National Mall. As a press release explains, the grounds, which were built to honor America’s brightest leaders and bravest heroes, is suffering from a growing amount of deferred maintenance and needed upgrades to the infrastructure of the park, which has not seen a major renovation in 40 years.
