Former guitarist of iconic rock band, Guns N’ Roses, Slash has told CBS This Morning that he is down, if and when Axl Rose changes his mind.
“It’s been one of those things that’s been talked about by everybody but us for over the last 18, 19 years,” Slash said in the recent interview, adding that he and Rose “haven’t really talked in a long time, but a lot of the tension that you were talking about has dissipated. We don’t have all those issues anymore. It’s not a lot of controversy. It’s something that is more perpetuated by the media, more than anything.”
“I got to be careful what I say there,” Slash continued, “I mean, if everybody wanted to do it and do it for the right reasons, I think the fans would love it. I think it might be fun at some point to try and do that, Never say never.”
Rose has remained opposed to reuniting the band’s classic lineup. In explaining his absence from the Hall of Fame in 2012, Rose wrote that the “endless amount of revisionism and fantasies … are misguided attempts to distract from our efforts with our current lineup.” However, in April 2014, he welcomed former bandmate Duff McKagan to join the band for the first time in 17 years.
Fans can only hope that this news may lead to something more substantial in the near future.
