During a show in Chicago earlier this month, the iconic rock outfit, The Who, brought out Eddie Vedder as a special guest. Another rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Famer joined them on stage last night, as Bruce Springsteen surprised fans during a MusiCares benefit event in New York City.
During the event, Townshend was given the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his work supporting the MusiCares MAP Fund, a charity that assists musicians with addiction recovery. Springsteen gave a poignant speech about Townshend in which he recounted his first time seeing The Who perform live in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1967.
Afterward, Springsteen joined Daltrey and Townshend to perform “My Generation” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. Watch fan-shot footage below.
