The Global Citizen Festival is an annual one-day concert event organized by the Global Poverty Project, with the aim of bringing attention to worldwide poverty. It begins on Saturday, September 26th in New York’s Central Park.
Headliners include Pearl Jam, Beyoncé, and Coldplay. “We love the Global Citizen movement and we love opening for Beyoncé so this ticks both boxes,” curator Chris Martin said of the lineup, which also includes English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
Tickets to the festival are free and go online today at the festival’s official site, where fans can sign up and pledge to take an “Action Journey”, which includes “making phone calls, volunteering or participating in another effort to encourage the U.S. State Department to dedicate 50% of its foreign aid budget to the world’s poorest countries.”
